Keeping up with the Kardashians: “Lord Disick Returns”

What I watched: Keeping up with the Kardashians: “Lord Disick Returns” (original air date: October 30, 2016)

How I watched: Streamed

Snacks: Red wine

161020_3155920_lord_disick_returns_1100x620_796613187511Synopsis: Kris and Khloe try to perk a bored Scott up by reinvigorating his “lordly” lifestyle. Drama erupts as Rob uses a fight with Chyna to get out of going to his grandmother’s birthday celebration and then blocks Chyna and his entire family off his phone and social media.

Why I watched: Catching up on the latest season.

Notes: I continue to be surprised that after so many seasons without Rob and a lot of hype surrounding his return this season, and his well-documented mental, emotional and physical health issues, he continues to be demonized over and over again in this season. I’m sure Rob isn’t blameless, but I also don’t think that he is given a fair treatment by this show.

One thing I found very sweet and uncharacteristic in this episode was Kim’s determination to learn how to braid her daughter, North’s hair. Without getting all into the whole Good Hair aspect, it was cool that Kim owned up to her own ignorance about how to do her daughter’s hair, sought help, practiced on her own and then by the end of the episode was trying (not fully succeeding yet) on North and showing some pride in doing so.

I have difficulty relaying to people what I find compelling about this show and it is definitely the glimmers when these people are a bit more real and grappling with familial relationships.

Recommend: Haha, NOPE. Guilty pleasure only.
